Lose Weight And Keep It Off

 

It’s January again and all you hear on the radio is various ads about the best and easiest way to lose weight. This is not surprising since it is just after Christmas and we all indulged a bit in the food and merriment. Consequently, we want to lose the weight and get back into shape.

 

There are fad diets and diet pills, even diet boot camps and weight loss videos by celebrities all trying to sell the ‘mysterious magic’ of weight loss. I call it ‘magic’ because everyone wants to lose weight the EASIEST way and that is what they are trying to sell to us in diet pills, diet supplements, etc. They are a quick fix, but is there a quick fix to weight loss? I do not think so.

I believed in this ‘mysterious magic’ of losing weight. Over the years, I tried the weight loss diets, bought a dvd, gym equipments that l never used, diet herbal teas and even a diet food supplement. Unsurprisingly, none of that worked until l decided to educate myself about nutrition. Then it became so simple and l watched the weight drop off in a matter of weeks.

 

Some of these won’t come as a surprise. Here goes;

 

CUT OUT THE SUGAR OR REDUCE IT DRASTICALLY. REPLACE SUGAR WITH PURE HONEY IF YOU NEED A SWEETENER.

 

REDUCE THE CARBOHYDRATES, ESPECIALLY PROCESSED ONES. (Rice, bread, pasta, etc)

 

EAT MORE PROTEIN, ESPECIALLY BEANS, EGGS, FISH AND CHICKEN

 

REDUCE DAIRY PRODUCTS AND FAT, ESPECIALLY SATURATED FAT. OLIVE OIL IS PREFERABLE AND HEALTHIER. BUTTER IS HEALTHIER THAN MARGARINE.

 

EAT LOTS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. Not everyone likes to eat vegetables, so find the ones you like and eat more of those.

 

SNACK ON NUTS AND OTHER HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES.

 

I do not call this a diet but a lifestyle choice. So make it a complete change of lifestyle, that way it becomes a constant. It’s worked for so many people including me. You just have to watch what you eat. There is no quick-fix.

 

Instead of spending money on diets and weight loss programmes this January, why not stock up on more protein meals and healthy food and snacks. Most importantly, whatever you eat, make sure it is small portions.

 

YOU NEED TO BE FIT, ESPECIALLY AS THE WEIGHT FALLS OFF. SO JOIN A GYM. However, if you cannot afford it, go jogging or take long walks. It’s free after all. 😃

 

Weight gain is mainly due to what we eat. Change your diet and you will definitely see a change. However, if you have an existing medical condition, you may want to consult your doctor before changing your diet.

 

This is my take on the whole weight loss shenanigans which has become a multibillion dollars industry.
